How the BetterPelvi chair works
If you’ve been doing pelvic floor exercises for years without seeing real results, there’s a reason – and it’s not that you’ve been doing them wrong.
The pelvic floor is made up of three distinct layers of muscle. Traditional exercises like Kegels can work the outer and middle layers, but the deepest layer – the one most responsible for bladder and bowel control, organ support and pelvic stability – is almost impossible to reach through conscious exercise alone.
BetterPelvi was designed specifically to solve this problem.
The three layers of the pelvic floor
Understanding why traditional exercises often fall short, and why BetterPelvi reaches where they can’t.

Outer Layer
The most accessible layer, often targeted by Kegel exercises and physiotherapy. Strengthening this layer alone gives limited results for many people.

Middle Layer
Reachable with some traditional methods, but difficult to target consistently and effectively without specialist intervention.

Deep Layer
The innermost and most complex layer. Nearly impossible to activate through voluntary exercise, and the layer that matters most for lasting improvement.
rPMS technology reaches all three layers simultaneously, which is why BetterPelvi produces results that exercise-based approaches often can’t.
Conditions we treat
BetterPelvi is effective for a wide range of pelvic floor conditions in both women and men.
If you’re not sure whether your symptoms are pelvic floor related, a 60-minute consultation and trial is the right place to start. We’ll talk through everything and assess your condition.
Below are the typical conditions that our patients seek help with. We are non-judgmental and have come across a wide range of presentations. Please contact us if your condition is not listed below. We look forward to hearing your story and helping you on your journey.
Bladder leaks and stress incontinence
Leaking when you cough, sneeze, laugh, exercise or lift something heavy is one of the most common pelvic floor symptoms, and one of the most frequently dismissed. It affects women of all ages, not just those who have had children or are menopausal.
Stress incontinence happens when the pelvic floor muscles are too weak to support the bladder under pressure. BetterPelvi strengthens these muscles at their deepest level, improving the control that prevents leaks.
Many patients notice a significant reduction in leaks within the first few weeks of treatment. For some, leaks stop entirely.
Urgency and overactive bladder
Urgency incontinence – the sudden, strong need to urinate that’s sometimes impossible to defer – is a different problem to stress incontinence, but one that BetterPelvi also addresses effectively.
Patients often find they need to visit the bathroom less frequently during the day, or night.
Prolapse
Pelvic organ prolapse – where one or more of the pelvic organs descend into or beyond the vaginal wall – affects a significant number of women, particularly after childbirth or in later life. Symptoms can include a feeling of heaviness or bulging, discomfort, or difficulty with bladder or bowel function.
BetterPelvi assists in pulling the organs back up by providing better support. Stronger pelvic floor muscles minimise the extent to which organs can fall through. If you hate seeing your bladder coming out, or feeling heaviness and dragging when you lie down; if a vaginal prolapse hinders sexual activity, BetterPelvi can help with your quality of life.
Postpartum recovery
Many women find that pelvic floor weakness persists long after their GP has signed them off – often for years.
BetterPelvi is suitable for postpartum women who have been cleared for exercise. It provides the deep, targeted stimulation that postnatal physiotherapy can’t reach, helping to restore strength, control and confidence.
Perimenopause and menopause
Many women notice new or worsening bladder symptoms during this time – more urgency, more leaks, less warning – even if they have never had pelvic floor problems before.
BetterPelvi is particularly effective for perimenopausal and menopausal women because it works directly on the muscle tissue rather than relying on hormonal support. Patients in this group often see significant improvement in urgency, frequency and leaks.
Back pain and posture
The pelvic floor is part of the body’s core, and a weak pelvic floor can contribute to instability, poor posture and chronic lower back pain. Strengthening the deep pelvic floor muscles supports better spinal alignment and can reduce pain in conjunction with osteopathy and L-Laser therapy, all of which are available under one roof at Signature Health.
If you’re experiencing unexplained back pain alongside any bladder or pelvic symptoms, it’s worth exploring the connection at your consultation.
Sexual wellbeing
A strong pelvic floor plays an important role in sexual sensation and satisfaction for both women and men. Men and women who experience reduced sensitivity, discomfort or difficulty with arousal and orgasm may find that increased contractibility and lubrication secretions help improve their sexual experience.
This is one of the benefits people are often least likely to mention, and most pleased to discover.
Men’s pelvic health
Prostate enlargement makes keeping an erection challenging. Prostate surgery (prostatectomy) frequently leads to urinary incontinence and erectile difficulties as a result of weakened pelvic floor muscles. BetterPelvi is clinically effective for post-prostatectomy recovery and is used in this context in European hospitals and clinics.

Common questions
If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please get in touch – we’re happy to help.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book a consultation directly with us – no referral needed.
Is the treatment suitable for me?
BetterPelvi is suitable for most adults. There are a small number of contraindications including pregnancy and certain implanted devices. We’ll check these with you prior to your consultation, to make sure the treatment is right for you.
How often do I need to attend?
We recommend attending twice a week throughout your programme. As with any healthcare treatment course, compliance is a key factor in optimising a positive outcome.
How much does it cost?
The initial 60-minute consultation is £50, reedeemable against packages purchased on the day. Please see the fees page for details of our packages.
I have been told by an aesthetics clinic that 6 sessions is enough. Do you offer 6 session packages?
We understand that 6 sessions are routinely marketed, regardless of individual circumstances. Ask yourself if you could develop big biceps at the gym and maintain the results in 6 sessions. The answer is no. Furthermore, biceps are easy to target and strengthen in comparison to the more complex pelvic floor – especially the innermost layer. This layer carries at least 20 kgs of organs, is frequently affected by inflammatory fluid, and is highly dependent on anxiety levels.
Find a clinic run by specialists who will assess you in person and who have excellent working knowledge, personal experience and/or subject matter expertise when it comes to muscles and the nervous system.
How quickly will I see results?
Natural healing may not be linear, but most clients start to notice some change within the first four to six weeks of regular sessions. As with any healthcare treatment course, compliance is key to optimising a positive outcome.
Can I bring someone with me?
Of course. Many clients find it helpful to bring a partner or friend, particularly to their first appointment.
What if I need to cancel a session?
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. Sessions cancelled with less notice may be charged, in line with our cancellation policy for all treatments at Signature Health.
Should I be worried about wetting or soiling myself on the chair?
Relax – We have never seen any accidents on the chair, and the toilet is close by if you need it.
Some patients notice they need to urinate a little more frequently at the start of their treatment. This is a short-term and entirely harmless side effect – the contractions can stimulate the release of fluid that was sitting in the abdominal cavity. It settles down as your body adjusts. If it intensifies significantly rather than easing, it’s worth ruling out an unrelated cause such as a urinary infection.
Some patients also find that BetterPelvi improves bowel motility in the case of constipation (with or without prolapse).
Should I be worried about having an orgasm on the chair?
This is a question we are asked more than you might think, and the answer is reassuring – it hasn’t happened with any BetterPelvi patients.
The contractions produced by the chair are quite different from anything associated with sexual stimulation. The sensation feels clinical rather than intimate, and most people describe it as unusual but entirely comfortable. Patients who were worried about this before their first session were consistently relieved to find it was not at all what they had imagined.
